Mushers 2006

Je po vsem, zavod skoncil. Zavodnici bali sane i psy, vsude se nekdo hemzi aby dokoncil svoji praci. Je potreba rozmrazit zamrzla auta a vydat se na cestu domu. Sedesat zavodniku a s nimi i 400 psu dokoncilo svuj zavod.

Everything has finished. The mushers are packing the sled, dogs and everywhere is someone to finish his work. It is necessary to unfreeze the frozen cars and set on the way home. Sixty mushers and with them about 400 dogs have finished their race.

Je cas na zamysleni. Tento zavod by se nemohl konat bez lidi, kteri jej pripravovali cely rok- Pavla a Andrei Kucerovych a hlavne bez vsude pritomnych pomocniku: na skutrech, na kontrolach, na startu a v cili, v autech a na silnicich... Kolik tu tech pomocniku vlastne bylo celkem? Tezko rici, ale bez nich by Sedivackuv long nebyl. Na tomto miste je treba vsem, kteri se o tento nadherny zavod zaslouzili podekovat a slozit poklonu za to, ze jsou v dnesni uspechane dobe schopni obetovat svuj volny cas a svoji energii pro tak nesmyslnou, ale krasnou vec.

It is time to flashback. This race could not have been organized without people who have been preparing it for all year - Pavel and Andrea Kucerovi and also not without the voluntary helpers on the snow scooters, on the check points, at the start and finish, in the cars and on the roads... How many of them were there? It is hard to say but Sedivackuv long wouldn't be possible without them. At this place it is time to say thank you we appreciate it to everyone who took part in the organization of this fantastic race. To admire that they were able to spend their free time and energy for so "unreasonable" but fantastic thing.

Je to velmi tezke uprostred Evropy zorganizovat podnik jako tento. Kolik ruznych povoleni a zadosti je potreba zajistit. Kolik je potreba zajistit penez alespon na zakladni naklady spojene s upravou trati. Letosni snehova kalamita prinesla i sve v podobe popadanych stromu po cele trati s kterymi se skutrari museli vyporadat.

It is very difficult to organize a meeting such as this in the middle of Europe. How many various licences, requests, permissions were needed! How much money was needed at least for the basic expenses for the ploughing the trail which was much more demanding this year after the snow storm and the snow calamity on the tops of the mountains.

Tak tedy diky za krasny zavod a moznost stravit nekolik dni mezi lidmi s kterymi si mam co rici... treba o psech.

So thanks again for such a beautiful race and the time we could spend among people whose company we enjoy and who we can chat with forever.... e.g. about the dogs.

Posledni etapa na 39km- The last part of the trail - 39km
konecne vysledky, final results

Ranni starty probihaly od devate hodiny. Teplota byla namerena -19 oC. Vyslo jasne slunce a vse ozarovalo ve svem jasnem lesku. Zavodnici vyrazili na svoji posledni etapu, ktera ve srovnani s temi predeslymi byla jak radostnou vyjizdkou na poslednich ctyricet km. Trat byla krasne umrzla a vedla pres hrebeny Orlickych hor. O poradich uz bylo vetsinou jiz rozhodnu a tak trat vesele utikala i s moznosti nadhernych vyhledu do kraje. Byl to krasny pocit pri prujezdu cilem, ze jsme to opravdu dokazali a jsme v tom vytouzenem miste ke kteremu nas vedlo 220 km nebo 343 km.

The morning starts were on from 9AM. The temperature was measured -19oC. The sun rose and everything was glittering in its rays. The mushers set on their last part of the trail which compared to the previous ones was only a fantastic ride for 40km. The trail surface was frozen and led them over the Orlicke mountains ridges. The places had already been decided so everyone was enjoying the trail more and was admiring the magnificent views all around. The feeling when coming back to the finish was unbelievable - we have managed it, we are at the end of 220 or 343km.

Zavod dokoncilo 30 zavodniku z 64.

There came 30 mushers who have finished the race out of 64.

Od 18 hodiny probehlo slavnostni vyhlaseni za pritomnosti patronky zavodu senatorky Vendulka Domsove, ktere jako kazdy rok doprovazela ukrutna zima. Po vyhlaseni prisla vhod vyhrata hospoda a moznost naposledy si o vsem podiskutovat a probrat strategie na dalsi rocnik, tentoktat jiz jedenacty.

Starting at 6PM there was the finishing ceremonial in the presence of patron of race senator Vendula Domsova. As usual in the past years it was pretty cold. After the ceremonial everyone went back to the pub for some hot or cold drink. They had the opportunity to talk about all the necessary strategies for the next year, whish will be 11th.

26.01.-27.01.2006

Vecerni musher meeting byl pojat jako slavnostni oslava jiz desateho rocniku. Vsem musherum, kteri se zavodu zucastnili alespon petkrat a vsem zaslouzilym organizatorum a sponzorum byly predany pamnetni presky k opaskum s logem zavodu. Po ujasneni vsech detailu k zitrejsi trati byla zahajena zabava s muzikou s nasim tradicne oblibenym VanHulenem. Vsichni se veselili a tesili na posledni kilometry za psim sprezenim.

The last evening musher meeting was understood as the celebration of the tenth anniversary of Sedivackuv long. All mushers who took part in the race at least five times, all organizers and sponzors were given plaquets and presents - the belt buckets with Sedivacek. After checking all the important detail for tomorrow's trail started the music entertainment with our favourite Van Hulen music group. Everyone was joyful and looking forward to the last kilometres of the dog sledding race.

Vysledky, results

Tak zavodnici jsou zpet z bivaku. Vcerejsi trat byla dlouha jenom 38 km ale stala svoji namahavosti za to. Tahla se pouze po hrebenech na ceske strane a trat byla projeta pouze skutrem, protoze rolba sem nema povoleny vstup. Trat chvilemi vedla po ledovych zavatych planich a pak zase po snehovych ubocich, kde se sane prevraceli do udoli. Kdyz trat zacala klesat do Souvlasti, tak nebylo jeste vyhrano, protoze trat byla meka a rozsolena a takze byla stejne namahava jako by se jelo do kopce. Po prijezdu na bivak si vsichni musheri zaparkovali psy pod stromy a vytvareli nejruznejsi zahraby aby jejich noc byla co nejpohodlnejsi.

All the mushers are back from the bivouac now. The trail yesterday took only 38 km but it was worth the challenge. It went only on the Czech mountain side and the trail was prepared only by the snowscooter because the snow truck was not allowed to go there. The trail went partly on the icy flurried plains and then on the snowy slopes where the sled tended to fall down to the valley. When the trail started to descend to village Souvlasti it was still not won. The snow got soft, salty and slushy so it was as hard as going up the hill. After the arrival to the bivouac all mushers put the dogs on the stake outs under the trees and started to build various snow hides to have as comfortable night as possible.

Zavodnici na 333 jeli trat douhou 83 km, v zavode pokracuji jiz jen ctyri: Radek Havrda, Honza Capek, Honza Teichman s osmi az deseti alaskany a Christopher Kuhn se ctyrmi malamuty. Christophruv cas je ve srovnani ostatnimi dost pomalejsi, ale jede stale vpred. Vcera v cili vypravel o tom jak pripravil pro psy zakusky ve forme lojovych kouli se vsemi moznymi dobrotami. Pro sebe pribalil do sani nekolik klobas. Nakonec to dopadlo tak, ze malamuti na trati snedly klobasy a na Kristophera zbyly lojove koule.

The 333 mushers went 83km long part and there are only four left: Radek Havrda, Honza Capek, Honza Teichman all with eight to ten Alaskan dogs and Christopher Kuhn with four Malamuts. The time of Christopher is much slower compared to the others but he is still continuing. Yesterday after the day finish he was telling stories how he prepared special dog sweets formed as fat balls mixed with other goodies and for himself he packed a few sausages. The story finished when his dogs ate all the sausages and all that was left for Christopher were only the fat balls.

Dnesni noc byla celkem tepla jen - 14oC trochu jen vic pofukovalo. Ten kdo nelenil a zahrabal se do snehu tuto svoji namahu v noci jiste ocenil.

Tonight was "quite" warm, -14oC only it was a bit more windy. Who was not lazy and built himself a good snow hide, he really appreciated it.

Vstavani do chladneho rana nebylo moc prijemne, ale teplo na statku, ktery slouzil jako zazemi vse vynahradilo.

Getting up to the cold morning wasn't very pleasant but at the farm which was our base was nice and warm.

Starty probihaly od osmi hodin ve stejnem poradi jako predesly den. Vsichni startovali na 77 km.

Today's part started at 8AM in the same order of the mushers as the day before. Everyone went 77km.

Dnesni trat vedla zpet pres hrebeny na Masarykovu chatu a pak dolu do Polska na 40 km okruh a pak zase zpet, kde pak nasledovala odbocka do Destneho. Vitr na hrebenech nebyl tak silny ani tak studeny jako v predchozich dnech. Svitilo krasne slunce a cesta pekne utikala. Musherum se naskytly prekrasne vyhledy pres Polsko az na Kralicky Sneznik a hrebeny Jeseniku.

The trail today went from Souvlastni back over the mountain ridge to Masaryk challet then down to 40km circuit in Poland and back to the turn to Destne. The wind on top was not as strong and not as cold as in the past days. The sun was shinning and the trail went smoothly. All the mushers had a fantastic view over Poland to the Kralicky Sneznik and Jeseniky mountain ridges.

Zitra je posledni den zavodu a starty zacinaji od deviti hodin. Konecnou zpravu is celkovymi vysledky prineseme vecer.

Tomorrow is the last day of the race. The start for the trail is from 9AM. We will bing the final report of the races tomorrow evening.

Vcerejsi zavod dokoncilo 35 zavodniku z 57 na trati 222km. Musheri na 333 pokracuji zatim vsichni. Byla udelena cena Fair Play zavodnikovi Janu Cepkovi, ze zachytil ujizdejici sprezeni dvanacti haskounu, kteri utekli po precvaknuti stredove lainy musherovi startujicimu s 14 psy.

There were 35 racers out of 57 who finished yesterday's part of the 222km race. All mushers for 333km will continue today again. Jan Cepek got the Fair Play award after he caught twelve out of fourteen ecaping husky dogs who tried to run away after chewing the mid line.

Hluboko do noci byly auty svazeni psi a sane zavodniku, kteri zavod vzdali, nebo z nej byli odvolani.

The cars were delivering all dogs, sled and mushers who gave up or were called off the race back to the starting point until late at night.

Dnes probehnou starty opet od deseti a cil bude na bivaku v Souvlasti. Trat bude dnes pro 222 pouhych 35km. Zitrejsi nejdelsi etapa na 77km bude dost kruta, protoze psi stravi noc na snehu a zde se jiste rozhodne i o konecnem poradi.

The start today will begin again at 10AM and the finish tonight is at the bivouac at Souvlasti. The trail for 222km will be only 35km. Tomorow will be the longest part of all - 77km and it will be pretty tough after the dogs and mushers will spend the cold night out on the snow. After that the total list and positions will definitely change.

Na bivak nemaji pristup pomocnici takze si musi kazdy musher poradit se svymi psy sam a sam se i o ne postarat. Podle dosavadnich informaci nebude na bivaku voda, protoze zamrzla.

The mushers'helpers cannot come to the bivouac and so each musher has to manage the dogs and himself by his or her own. According to the recent information there won't be any water there because it got forzen ove the past freezing nights.

25.01.2006 vecer, evening

Vysledky, results

Pomalu dojizdi posledni zavodnici z trati 89 a 69km. Vetsina zavodniku stravila na trati 5 az 8 hodin ale i vice. Momentalne ve 20:00 nedorazilo jeste 15 musheru. Trat byla skvele pripravena a predevsim i znacena. Velkym prekvapenim pro vsechny zucastnene byly trate na polske strane, ktere vedli naprosto uzasnou krajinou a cele byla upravena rolbou. Tato Polska etapa dlouha 40 km vedla dole v udoli mezi vzrostlymi stromy. Na hrebenech hor vsak fucel silny vitr, ktery strhaval vse co se mu postavilo do cesty. Clovek se musel krcit za sanemi a hledat trochu zavetri aby se mohl vubec nadechnout a zaroven mu omrzalo vse, co nebylo dostatecne chraneno. Opravdu nezavidim tem, kteri zde jedou uz za tmy. Naprosto neuveritelny je vykon dobrovolnych pomocniku na trati, kteri zde mrznou i 12 hodin. Zda se, ze dost lidi zavod vzdalo, ale to vse se ukaze az po zverejneni vysledku. Stale vsak nejsou v cili vsichni.

The muhers are slowly coming back from the 89 and 69km trails. Most of the racers spent from 5 to 8 hours on the trail. At the moment at 8PM there are still about 15 mushers out. The trail was well prepared and well marked. The most surprising for everybody was the trail on the Polish side of the border which went through amazing countryside and was well prepared by the snow truck. This 40km long part went down in the valley among the well grown trees all covered in snow and frost. On the mountain ridge there blew strong wind almost a gale which was destroying all in its way. The mushers had to bend down behind the sled rail to get a bit of lee and to breathe and everything that was not properly covered was freezing to death. I do not envy those who are still there at night. The most incredible was also the service of the voluntary helpers some of them being out there more than twelve hours. It seems that a lot of mushers gave up but everything will be known after the evening results. At the moment there are still not everybody back down.

25.01.2006 rano, morning

Havrda Radek vcera zvitezil v prvni nocni etape na 45 km casem 2:28:40 s prumernou rychlosti 18,16 km/h. Dale dojeli Teichman Jan s odstupem 30:05 a Capek Jan s odstupem 34:22 dale zavod dokoncili Tyroler Ctirad, Christoph Kuhn.

Havrda Radek won the first part of the race last night - 45km with the time 2:28:40 with the average speed 18,16km/h. Next followed Teichman Jan 30:05 after and Capek Jan 34:22 minutes after. To the finish also came Tyroler Ctirad and Christoph Kuhn.

Dnes zavodnici vyjedou na trat 89 a 69 km. Starty zacinaji v 10:00. K zavodu na 333km nastoupi 5 zavodniku a na trat na 222 km 57 musheru se svymi psy- ve ctyrech kategoriich psich sprezeni a dvouch kategoriich lyzarskych. Nejobsazenejsi kategorie je LT2 s peti az osmi cistokrevnymi psy v obsazeni 20 musheru.

Today is the program of the trail 89 and 69 km. The start is at 10AM. There will be 5 mushers for the 333km trail and 57 mushers for the 222km. There are four cathegories of the dogsled and two skiing cathegories. The most applied cathegory is LT2 - the sled with five to eight pure breed dogs - where have applied twenty mushers.

Ranni teplota u penzionu Kristyna byla namerena -22 oC. Nektera auta mela problem po studene noci nastartovat. Ranni slunce ale zazarilo prekrasnym jasem a vse zmrzlim musherum i psum vynahradilo. Destne hlasi metr snehu. Proste idealni podminky.

The morning temperature by the penzion Kristyna was minus 22oC. Some cars had a problem to start their engines after such a cold night. Nevertheless the morning sun started shining brightly and gave it back to all frozen mushers and their dogs. In Destne is over one metre of snow. Just perfect conditions.

Od rana prijizdeji posledni musheri a pripravuji sve sane k zavodu. Letos mame 82 prihlasenych zavodniku z deseti zemi. Do sestnacte hodiny probihala prejimka psu a pak nasledovala schuzka zavodniku, kde byla popsana trat a nastrahy na ni. Zitrejsi trat bude smerovat az do Polska, kde musheri projedou asi ctyriceti kilometrovym usekem. Pozor na popadane stromy a vetve stromu, ktere jsou velmi nizko nad trati.

The mushers have been coming since the early morning and everybod has been preparing their sled for the race. This year have applied 82 people from 10 countries. There was a check in of the dogs to 4PM and then followed the mushers'meeting where the trail together with the most tricky parts was described. The trail tomorrow will lead the mushers to Poland where they will pass about forty kilometres of the trail.

Pavel Kucera- reditel zavodu dostal darek k desatemu rocniku: svoji zmenceninu... Ze by padla slza dojeti ?

Pavel Kucera - the leader of the race got a special present to the tenth anniversary of the race: his own miniature... Would there be a tear of emotion?

Momentalne se vsichni chystaji do Destneho na slavnostni zahajeni a prvni starty zavodniku 333 na nocni etapu. Vysledky prvnich 45 km se dozvite zitra rano i s fotografiemi.

At the moment everybody is going to Destne for the opening ceremonial with the first six starts of the 333km racers of the night part. The results of the first 45km will be known tomorrow morning together with the photographs.

Charakteristika zavodu: Etapovy zavod psich sprezeni po hrebenech Orlickych hor s jednim povinnym bivakem ( nocleh na snehu) s mezinarodni ucasti sprezeni ze Slovenska, Polska, Nemecka, Rakouska, Svycarska, Belgie a Holandska. Je nejdelsim zavodem psich sprezeni v Ceske republice a patri k nejtezsim zavodum v Evrope vubec. Jiz nekolik let se jezdi jako mistrovstvi CR v LONGu ( dlouha trat) a v roce 2004 se jel jako Mistrovstvi Evropy v LONGu i v MIDu. Od roku 2002 je Sedivackuv long zarazen do serie ctyr extremnich zavodu psich sprezeni o titul IRON SLED DOG MAN ( dva z techto zavodu jsou poradany v rakouskych a jeden ve svycarskych Alpach).
Sedivackuv long je velmi dobre organizacne i medialne zajisten a nabizi vsem zucastnenym ( psum, zavodnikum, divakum, organizatorum i sponzorum) naprosto vyjimecny zazitek. Pro nepritomne jsou k dispozici prime vstupy v rozhlase a v televizi, reportaze v tisku a pro vsechny zajemce z kazdeho rocniku dokumentarni film. Informace k X. rocniku: Klasicky ctyrdenni etapovy zavod s jednim povinnym bivakem o delce 222 km, Mistrovstvi republiky v LONGu 2006, soucast IRON SLED DOG MAN 2006. Druhy zavod o delce 333 km je prestiznim zavodem pouze pro zkusene. Zahajen bude nocni etapou. Novinka letosniho Sedivackova longu je spoluprace s polskym Musherskym klubem Amarok, ktery rozsiri nase trate o dva okruhy v delce 30-50 km.

Slavnostni zahajeni: 24.1.2006 v 18:00 pod sjezdovkami fa Sport Profi s.r.o. v Destnem v Orlickych horach. Pruvod zavodniku s loucemi od penzionu Kristyna v Jedlove vyjde v 17:30.

Stakeout: u penzionu Kristyna v Jedlove v Orlickych horach

Ubytovani: koordinuje poradatel na mistnich penzionech a hotelech.

Hudba: kazdy vecer

Cas a misto startu: v utery 24. ledna 2006 v 19:00 na prvni nocni etapu, ve stredu, ctvrtek a patek od 9:00 od penzionu Kristyna.

Bivak: v katastru obce Souvlasti. Na bivaku neni povolena pomoc zavodnikum dalsimi osobami ( doghandlery). V pripade neuposlechnuti tohoto zakazu nasleduje diskvalifikace zavodnika ze zavodu.

Skiering: zvlastni vybava a vypomoc dle poradatelu- jen pro zkusene zavodniky.
