The Orlické mountains are
picturesque mountain ridges, which tourists surprisingly discover
on the North-East of Bohemia.
Orlické
hory create about 50km long ridge that follows the state
border between the Czech Republic and Poland, from Olešnice
v Orl. Horách to Heřmanice. The main ridge of the mountains
rises to 1000m above the sea. The highest mountain top is
Velká
Deštná (1115 m n.m.). Another important tops are Vrchmezí
(1084 m n.m.), Malá Deštná (1090 m n.m.), Šerlich (1025 m
n.m.), Annenský vrch (995 m n.m.) or Zakletý (991 m n.m.).To
the area of the Orlické mountains belong lots of places below
so called Podorlická pahorkatina. The whole character of the
area nature environment depends on the geological basics there.
The Orlické mountains are part of the orlicko-kladsko crystalicum.
From the geological point of view there are three parts -
Deštenská highlands, Mladkovská highlands and Bukovohorská
highlands. The highest laid area was pronounced the state
protected nature are -
ChKO. There are also many possibilities for tourism and
skiing in the Orlické mountains. The most famous ski resorts
are Říčky, Deštné, Jadrná or Čenkovice.
