Šediváčkův long, the most
difficult central-Europian stage dog-sled race on the snowy
trails near Deštné v O.h. takes place in January every year.
At this time the mushers and dogs must share the trail with
the cross-country skiers. For some skiers this is the opportunity
how to see something extraordinary and not of everyday view,
some think this is a obstacle and destroys their skiing experience.
It is definitelly not recommended to take your own dog with
you since the sled dogs could understand it as a concurrence
with possible unpleasant consequences.
The
trail of the race - 222 a 333km: Jedlová - Deštné -
Kamenný vrch - Polomský vrch - Bukačka - Šerlich - Velká Deštná
- saddle below Homole - on the eastern side of the mountain
ridge to Pěticestí - on the western side of the mountain ridge
to above Čertův Důl and following round Vápenný vrch to the
hunting lodge below Maruša - descent to Luisino Údolí (valley)
- to the church of st. Matouš - to the finish in Jedlové.
The organizers prolonged the trail circuit to the Polish area
Czarne bagno, where is the spring of the river Orlice, and
further more along the river Bystrzyce past Strážník Wiecznosci
and back to the Czech side.
